Key Information and Documents

  • PE is timetabled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon. The Year 4 children will go swimming on a Wednesday afternoon. Full PE kit is expected to be worn during PE sessions. These should be brought in at the beginning of term and left in lockers (with the exception of any swimming kits which need to be brought in on a Wednesday only). For details on the required PE kit, please see the PE page.
  • Children MUST bring pumps into school to wear indoors. Please clearly label the pumps with your child’s name.
  • Please ensure that all uniform, coats, pumps and PE kits are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
  • It is very important that the children read regularly. Once the children have read their book, they must bring it back to school so that it can be changed.
  • Ensure all children bring in a water bottle. It is really important that the children stay hydrated throughout the day.

What a great start to the year already! Keep your eye out as we will be adding some of the wonderful activities we have been getting up to.

The Stone Age

In English, we will be reading 'Stone Age Boy,' and producing a range of written pieces based on our learning. Look out for our persuasive leaflets advertising a new stone age village...   We took part in a VR experience based on the Stone Age.

As part of our experience day in English, we became Stone Age people and created our own 'Cave Art.' We really tried to get into character by creating caves with our tables.

Take a look at all of the wonderful things we have been up to in class this half term...

Our current Guided Reading book is...

The Butterfly Lion : Michael Morpurgo, Christian Birmingham: Amazon.in: Books

Why not ask me some of the following questions:

Where does this story take place? Would you like to live there?

If you could meet any of the characters from the story, who would it be and why?

Why do you think Michael Morpurgo chose to write about this specific topic?

What word would best describe the main character? Find evidence from the story to support your answer.

What is the main message of the story? Have you learnt anything from the book?

Would you recommend this book to others? Who do you think would enjoy it and why?

Michael Morpurgo often uses things that have happened in real-life as inspiration for the events in his stories. Do you recognise anything from the story that has happened in your life?

October is the month of the Rosary

We have been taking part in the Rosary Challenge set by Mark 10 Mission. We have really enjoyed taking part in reciting the decades each day and learning all about the different events in the life of Jesus. We have even had a go at creating our own class set of Rosary Beads in our RE lesson this week.
