Come and take a look at our wonderful work!
Autumn
PSHE: The children discussed what the key is to being kind and how they can show kindness towards their peers. Take a look at our 'Keys of Kindness.'
DT: The children created moving Fire Engines in three steps using different craft materials. They discussed the parts of a vehicle. First the children created the chassis, then added axles and finally a body.
Spring
Geography: The children used globes to find the seven continents Asia, Africa, Europe, Australasia, Antarctica, North America and South America. We also compared hot and cold places in the world and packed a suitcase with suitable clothing to travel to Africa and Antarctica.
National Storytelling Week : All the children created story maps using their teddy bears as the main characters. Take a look and see all our wonderful stories.!
National Storytelling Week: A huge thank you to all our amazing parents 'secret readers' who came and read with us this week. We have really enjoyed listening to all the book you brought in and read to us.
Choice: The children really enjoyed playing games with the parachute. We finished off by making a dome and having a story inside.
Story Time: In Year Two we love making up stories and sharing them with our friends. There was a story about aliens in space, a birthday boy, a girl in a forest and much more. What fantastic imaginations we have!
PE: We love PE in Year Two! This term the children are learning different balancing techniques. 'Static balance and Dynamic balance'. We used lots of PE equipment to create an obstacle course and then carefully went around remembering to lift our arms to steady our balance.
Exploring: At dinner time the children collected sticks that were blown onto the playground from the wind. They asked if they could make stick men as we were reading the book 'Stick Man' in class. They loved their creations so we displayed them in our class reading corner.
RE: In RE we have been learning about when Jesus arrives at the temple. They children were put into groups to re tell each part of the story. They also considered the feelings of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Simeon and Anna. We discussed why Jesus was names 'The Light of The World' and a 'Gift'.
Science: The children were researching about the different deserts around the world. They made a mind map about all the information they could find. We know that The Sahara Desert is the largest hot desert and Antarctica Polar Desert is the largest cold desert in the world. Did you know that deserts can be hot or cold?
Geography: Today we were Meteorologist! We had lots of fun planning and preparing a weather forecast to show our friends in class. We can identify that we live in the United Kingdom in England, in a city called Leeds. We made weather symbols and talked about the weather in each country. We all hope it will be sunny soon!
Science: Today we discussed what all living things need to survive which were air, water and food. We then talked about living things, things that were alive but are now dead and things that were never alive. The children made a list for each category.
