Year 1

Miss Chatt

Hello and welcome to the Year 1 class page! On this page you will find resources to help support your children's learning as well as photographs to show their learning journey throughout the year. In this class we aim to make learning fun and interactive to get the best out of each child.

Knowledge Organisers

Here you will find information about what we are learning in Year 1 for the Spring Term.

Apps and Websites

Don't forget you have lots of resources available to access at home:

Spellings

Please practise these spellings at home with your children.

Autumn 1 Autumn 2 Spring 1 Spring 2 Summer 1 Summer 2

Homework will be uploaded onto google classrooms every Friday and is due in on the following Wednesday.

Each week your child will have a maths activity, a writing activity along with the weekly spellings.

The children will be sent home a library book every Monday, this is for you to share as a family. You can decide how you would like this to be read, either by an adult or by your child. Remember to make this an exciting reading experience for you all. Please return the library book on Friday.

Your child will also receive two RWI phonics books, these need to be brought into school everyday. When they need changing the books will be kept in school and given back out once changed. Your child may also be set reading quizzes on the Oxford Owl website, if this happens the teacher will inform you on google classrooms.

Key Reminders

All children need to have pumps in school.

Please bring a water bottle and book bag to school everyday.  Our PE days are Mondays and Thursday. Please come to school in your PE kit with appropriate trainers.

Experience Days

In Year 1 we really enjoy the experience days we have. These happen throughout the year. Take a lot of some of the fanatic experiences we take part in.

On Anti-racism day we learnt that we are all different, all special and all equal. Together we are one!

The Year 6 librarians really looked after us at the Reading Cafe. They brought lots of exciting new books for us to share along with juice and biscuits!

During Maths week the Year 1 children loved having a go at the math challenges. This was a particular favourite of theirs!

Thanks to Mrs Doherty for arranging for the Year 1 children to take part in a Tiny Tales session. We listened to the story 'Here we go round the Mulberry Bush' and took part in activities based on the places the story took us too.

Year 1 were super excited to take part in National Storytelling week! We had secret readers visit at different times throughout the week to read some exciting stories. We also got to share books with our class friends.
