St. Nicholas Parish Church

St. Nicholas Parish Church is situated within the school grounds.

St Nicholas Catholic Primary School is proud to be part of the Parish of Blessed Edmund Sykes in the Diocese of Leeds. Our parish brings together two Catholic communities: the Catholic Churches of Saint Nicholas in Gipton and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Seacroft. St Nicholas Church is situated within our school grounds, embedding the relationship between school, parish and family.

Our parish is named after Blessed Edmund Sykes, a Yorkshire priest and martyr who gave his life for the Catholic faith. As a parish community, we look to his example and ask for his intercession. We also have a special connection to St Nicholas, the patron saint of children, reflecting our shared dedication as both a church and school.

The parish plays an important part in the Catholic life of St Nicholas. Through our close relationship with the church, our children are able to experience themselves as part of a wider Catholic community, joining together in prayer, worship and the celebration of Mass.

The school's previous diocesan inspection also explicitly recognised this relationship, describing St Nicholas as serving the Parish of Blessed Edmund Sykes.
