Here you will find information about how we support children with SEND as part of our inclusive and faith-filled school community.

At St Nicholas, we believe that every child is a unique and precious gift from God, created to flourish and succeed. We are committed to ensuring that all children — regardless of need or background — are valued, supported and given the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

National Context

The Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015) set out how schools identify, assess, and support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
These reforms were introduced following feedback from parents and carers, aiming to create a more personalised, coordinated, and family-centred approach for children and young people with SEND aged 0–25.

Leeds Local Offer

Every Local Authority must publish a Local Offer — a single place where families can find information about support, advice, and services available for children and young people with SEND.
In Leeds, the Local Offer includes information across education, health, and social care, helping families access the right help at the right time.

You can find out more by visiting the Leeds Local Offer website:

Our SEND Information Report and Accessibility Plan

Our full SEND Information Report is available on this page only.
It outlines how we identify and support pupils with additional needs, how we monitor impact, and how we ensure our school environment remains inclusive and accessible to all.

Our Accessibility Plan can be found in the Key Information → Policies section of our website.
This plan details how we continue to improve access to our school’s environment, curriculum, and communication for all pupils, staff, and visitors.

If you require any further information or wish to discuss support for your child, please contact our SEND team, who will be happy to assist you.
