Mrs Doherty and Mrs McNeill
Welcome to the Year 2 class page! On this page you will find resources that we use in school that will support your children at home. There will be photographs to show you the classes learning journey and all the exciting opportunities we are giving your children throughout the year.
We have started the half term off with some fun shape work in Maths. We used marshmallows and sticks to make 3D shapes and to identify how many vertices and how many edges each shape had.
We have also had fun in English this week with our new English story 'The Way Back Home' written by Oliver Jeffers. We turned out all the lights and imagined we were stuck on the moon. We used torches to help us see and came up with some very imaginative ideas for how we could get home. We then did lots of drama to act out each scenario.
In Year 2 we are learning all about The Mass and what happens throughout each part of the Mass. We have learnt about the beginning of the Mass, asking for forgiveness, the Readings, the Offertory, the Consecration, Holy Communion, and the end of Mass. We have also recreated the Last Supper and understand the importance of The Last Supper and how it links with The Mass. As we prepare for Easter, we are also living out our Lenten promises and remembering Jesus and all he gave up for us.
