Your child will be made very welcome at St.Nicholas School. I realize that this is a major event in your child's life and in yours. It is the first big 'letting go', your child is facing the big world of other people for the first time.

In St.Nicholas through the dedication and commitment of our excellent staff we aim to provide a loving and caring atmosphere so that your child will grow and develop. We will do our very best to assist you in the education, growth and development of your child into a mature, well-balanced, loving and happy person.

I said we will do our best to 'assist you' very deliberately. You are the real educator of your child. You have been educating your child since your child was born, by love and example. Example is all important. Your continued involvement and commitment are vital. We are fully aware that every child is unique and we will make every effort to cater for your child's needs and ability. Personally, I believe that education begins and ends at home. The school will be as successful as you are committed, co-operative and involved.

I am pleased that you have chosen a Catholic School and Catholic values and standards for your child. Again, your example is so important. The school can only assist you to give Catholic standards and values to your child, if you try to live by Catholic values and standards. The school can only assist you to bring your child to know God and worship God, if you show interest in God through prayer and Sunday worship.

I am sure you are aware of how confusing it can be for children to be taught one set of values at school and quite a different set of values at home.

I hope your child will be very happy in our school where we endeavour to provide an atmosphere of love and care, so that your child grows and develops to his or her full potential. This I am confident we can do with your full co-operation.
