Programmes of study as outlined in National Curriculum guidelines are followed in English, Mathematics ,Science, History, Geography, Art, Music, Physical Education, and Technology.
The children also follow the Here I am scheme for R.E.

Any concerns over our curriculum delivery, content etc. should initially be conveyed to the class teacher, (please make an appointment in the first instance)
If a satisfactory conclusion is not arrived at, the teacher and parent can then consult with the Headteacher or subject co-ordinator.
Governor involvement can be sought if this is felt to be necessary by the Headteacher or parent concerned.

Sex Education Policy

The governors and staff have developed a Personal and Social Education Programme and Policy which was presented to parents to ascertain their views before being implemented within the school.

Sport. Aims/Provision

We aim to help our children develop as fully as possible, the skills required to take part in team and individual sports. A knowledge of the different rules are also developed.

Football is played at U9 and U11 level, as extra curricular activities for approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour each week. At various times we also offer Netball, Basketball, Keep-fit, Cricket, and Athletics, as extra curricular sporting activities. Within the formal curriculum approximately 1 hour per week is allotted to P.E. on the timetable. An appropriate proportion of the school year's timetable is given over to the development of sporting skills. Year 4 children attend swimming lessons at Fearnville Sports Centre.

The school has extensive playing fields, a hall for gymnastics etc., and a range of small and large apparatus for sport/P.E. Our field is also used by a number of community/church teams etc.

At the moment, qualifications in swimming, and short tennis are held by staff members. All staff have relevant experience in delivering PE within the National Curriculum, whilst not necessarily holding specific PE qualifications.

Various professional coaches are invited into school as available, including those for Yorkshire C.C., Leeds R.L.F.C. We have the services of the swimming coaches at Fearnville Sports Centre. Many of our children play for local sporting clubs.
